An appeal for applications has been issued after a Scottish rescue dog has attracted very little interest. The Scottish SPCA issued a plea on Facebook as the charity has been looking for a new owner for Daniel the border collie for nearly 100 days.

Daniel is a 'handsome boy' who walks 'beautifully' on lead and loves toys, but the dog has 'quirks' specific to his breed and needs to go to an adult-only home. The black and white border collie is an eight-year-old former working dog housed at the SPCA's Dundee location.

The post tugged at the hearts of dog lovers with the appeal racking up over 1,600 shares, 1,200 likes and over 300 comments.

Some commenters just couldn't understand why the border collie hadn't found a new home yet.Several shared their love for border collies."Rescue collies can be wonderful," wrote one woman."Our Jasper was rescued by us and yes did have a couple of quirks but he was a Brilliant, loyal, loving, family pet who lived to within two months of his 18th Birthday!"In their appeal, the charity specified they were looking for an owner with previous experience with collies and their behavioural issues. The SPCA's appeal says: "We have been searching for a home for border collie Daniel for nearly 100 days, but unfortunately he has had very little interest."He is a handsome boy who loves going for walks and playing with his toys.
