Dundee's Owen Dodgson says Manchester United’s Scotland heroes past and present have helped his career progression. The defender received advice and inspiration from Darren Fletcher and Scott McTominay on his pathway through the ranks.
Dodgson started out in United’s Academy and ascended to their U18 side before switching across Lancashire to Burnley. The 20-year-old is currently on loan from Turf Moor having had spells at Rochdale and Barnsley but that initial grounding at Old Trafford was crucial and it’s where he came into contact with Scots icons Fletcher and McTominay.
Dodgson said: “My girlfriend’s dad is Wes Brown and he knows Darren quite well. Before I left United he was quite good with him.
