Scots woman who was raped and sexually assaulted by a hotel worker on a package holiday with her husband has won an 11-year fight for justice after the Supreme Court ruled that a tour operator was liable for the attack.
The victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was attacked by an on-duty hotel employee in a Kuoni resort in Sri Lanka in 2010.
The sick predator told the woman, from Glasgow, that he would show her back to the reception area at the resort. Instead, he lured her into an engineering room where he raped and assaulted her.The UK’s highest court handed down judgment in the case where the victim, who is in her forties, launched legal action against Kuoni following the abhorrent attack.The travel operator must now pay out.
