A big-hearted Scots schoolboy who defied bullies to grow his hair long and help cancer-stricken kids has had the chop after three years.Vandaad Fardi was just five when he decided to donate his locks to be made into a wig for a child who had lost their hair during treatment. He refused to give up on his mission despite cruel taunts that left him in tears. And now the determined eight-year-old, from Aberdeen, is almost unrecognisable after finally cutting his hair short. The youngster said he “couldn’t stop smiling” after achieving his goal for charity and was excited to show off his new look at school.Mum Golpar said: “He couldn’t sleep and got up at 4am because he was so excited.“He said ‘mum can you believe it?

This has taken me three years.’“It’s been hard for him but he was so excited to go to school and show off his new hair to his friends.”We told last week how Vandaad, who also lives with dad Farshid and little sister Sana, three, started growing his hair after asking his mum about children struggling with cancer.Golpar had told him about the Mahak Charity, which supports children with cancer in Iran, where his parents are from.As his hair started to get longer he would come home crying because other kids called him “a girl”.When his parents offered to take the schoolboy to get it cut he refused, saying he wanted to help the poorly children.Vandaad told the Record it had been “very hard” to endure being picked on over his hair but said it would “all be worth it” when a child gets their wig.The Hazlehead Primary School pupil is raising money for the Mahak Charity and the Little Princess Trust, who he will donate his hair to after chopping it off on Valentine’s Day.The charity has provided thousands of real hair wigs
