A Scots schoolboy is raising money to gift chocolate bars, gloves and dog treats to the homeless this Christmas. Kind-hearted nine-year-old Ruaridh Fordie decided he wanted to help those living on the streets after meeting a homeless member of the Abbeyhill community in Edinburgh.
Since speaking to the man, the youngster has become well-known for his charitable work and he supplied over 800 pairs of socks for the homeless back in April 2022.After speaking to proud mum Emma, 37, when he was just eight, Ruaridh became concerned as to what folk would do if their feet got wet and they did not have a second pair of socks.
As reported by Edinburgh Live, this led to him asking family and friends for donations to give to Simon Scotland and their Street Work team to distribute - and he was overjoyed to hear how well they had been received. But this Christmas, Ruaridh just wants to 'put a smile' on the faces of those who have found themselves homeless.
Mum Emma said: “Last year we had a chat about homelessness as it really caught his attention after I had given a pound to a popular man close to his school.“As an eight-year-old boy who likes to play football, he was concerned that they would be left with wet feet if they did not have a pair to change into.
