Scots prison guard who slashed pub punter he believed to be rapist is jailed

prison officer who brutally slashed a man he believed had raped a woman was today jailed for three years and nine months. Gary Grimes, 39, attacked his victim with a Stanley knife-type weapon in a pub in Lennoxtown, East Dunbartonshire in December 2018.

The victim needed surgery for a number of nasty facial wounds leaving him scarred for life. Today at the High Court in Glasgow judge Lord Matthews told Grimes: “You decided to take the law into your own hands.
