Scots police will not routinely stop vehicles to enforce new festive coronavirus rules

Police have confirmed that they will not carry out routine stops on vehicles as the rules on festive gathering tighten in Scotland.

Nicola Sturgeon announced today that rules of Christmas bubbles will only apply on Christmas Day amid concerns over a new strain of coronavirus.

People in Scotland have also been banned from travelling to any other part of the UK during the festive period.The majority of the country will then be plunged into level four lockdown restrictions for three weeks from 00.01am on Boxing Day.Anyone found to be breaking the rules could face a £60 fine for a first time offence under the Coronavirus (Scotland) Act.
