Scots personal trainer beats the odds to take first steps after more than 100 days in coma

personal trainer who almost died from pneumonia on a dream trip to Vietnam has taken her first steps - almost 300 days after contracting the illness.Mekala Osborne, 22, was left fighting for her life and given a five per cent chance of survival after she fell ill with bronchial pneumonia in the south-east Asian country last September.She spent more than 100 days in an induced coma and was moved to a specialist hospital in Singapore, before being transported to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.Mekala only began breathing unaided in March when she was moved to the city’s Astley Ainslie Hospital.But the brave PT, from Wallyford, East Lothian, has now taken her first steps out of her wheelchair.In a video posted on social media, Mekala is seen.
