Scots nurse killer's crime spree with team of ‘professional burglars’ ended with fatal crash

A thief’s shocking eight-month crime spree came to an end when he killed a much-loved mental health nurse during a police chase in Aberdeen.

Shaun Rimmer committed nearly two dozen high-value robberies in the first part of 2021 with Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti among his victims.The 29-year-old’s criminal campaign came to an end in knocked down and killed Simon Musabayana while behind the wheel of a stolen Seat Leon in August 2021.

The 48-year-old victim, who worked at Cornhill Hospital, died 26 days after the crash despite the best efforts of medics, who were forced to amputate his leg and arm.Rimmer, from Liverpool, was jailed for eight years for killing the dad-of-three during a “prolonged period of dangerous driving round the streets of Aberdeen”.

He appeared in the dock at Liverpool Crown Court on Thursday alongside partner in crime Adam Hastings for their involvement in a string of burglaries, the Echo reports.The court was told how the duo led a "team of highly-organised, professional burglars" which targeted the now Real Madrid boss' address in Blundellsands on February 12 last year.
