Scots music mogul who discovered Oasis denies rape claims made against him

Oasis manager Alan McGee has denied “a number of unfounded and hurtful” allegations after police launched an investigation into two claims of rape.

Representatives for London’s Metropolitan Police confirmed they had received a report of two alleged incidents of rape of a woman by a man.One was said to have occurred in Southwark, London, and the second on May 22 in Kensington and Chelsea.

The force last night said that inquiries were ongoing.McGee, who was born in East Kilbride, said via a representative: “A number of allegations have been made against me, which are unfounded, hurtful and completely untrue."These false allegations have crossed the line into serious defamation and I have been left with no option but to commence legal proceedings against the individual making them.

I will not be making any further comment at this stage.”The businessman, 62, who co-founded independent label Creation Records, is best known for discovering Oasis.
