A Scots mum who tripped over stairs and struggled to walk was diagnosed with a muscle-wasting disease while still in her 20s.
Alexandra Gardyne has Facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy and is set to become the centre of an upcoming fundraising event.
An art enthusiast herself, the 35-year-old will now become the subject of work created by figurative Scottish artist, Damian Callan.
He will capture the way she moves in a the hope that it will offer an “insight into the experience of living with muscular dystrophy.” The work will be presented at a one-off exhibition at the Scottish Portrait Gallery event on Saturday, May 21, Edinburgh Live reports.
