A Scots mum who was left raging after a house was built so close to hers she could chap her neighbour's door from her bathroom window has been told by the council the property is 'closer than it should have been'.

Mum-of-seven Niki Caira was horrified when she realised just how close new-build luxury homes were going to be to her house in Thorton, Fife and immediately contacted the council to complain.

Niki and husband Mario objected to the planning application for the two £350,00 properties in 2020, however, they were given the go-ahead by Fife Council in June last year.

When building work started in May, Niki said she felt like her family's privacy had been invaded.Despite Fife Council originally saying the building had been built to comply with the approved planning permissions, the local authority recently confirmed to Niki that they have since discovered it has been built 4cm closer to the boundary than originally thought. The local council said it is however still within the degree of tolerance and therefore they will not be taking any further action.
