Scots firefighters were sent out to the scene of a fatal road which tragically claimed the life of their young colleague. A crew from North Berwick fire station were called to assist with a collision involving a a green Kawasaki ZX 900E1 motorcycle and a tanker between the East Lothian villages of Drem and Dirleton, on Wednesday, July 17.
Glenn Campbell, the driver of the motorbike was pronounced dead at the scene. The 21-year-old had recently trained as a fireman at North Berwick Community Fire Station.
The driver of the tanker was uninjured. His colleagues were among the first responders, while another crew was sent from Haddington Community Fire Station, less than 11 miles from their North Berwick base.Area Commander Marc Pincombe, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service's Local Senior Officer for Mid Lothian, East Lothian and Scottish Borders, also paid tribute.He said: "We are deeply saddened to confirm the death of our friend and colleague Glenn Campbell who passed away on Wednesday, July 17."Glenn was a well-respected and loved Firefighter at North Berwick Community Fire Station.
