A Glasgow dad and son are taking part in the Great Scottish Run this weekend to raise money for charity after five family members were diagnosed with cancer in the last seven years.
James McHugh, 42, and his 10-year-old son, Dylan, are gearing up to take on the challenge with Dylan competing in the 2.5km junior race on Saturday before James completes the 10-kilometre event on Sunday.The pair are doing it in aid of Cancer Research, a cause which is close to the families heart.
In the past seven years James' mother, aunt, uncle, and cousin have all been plagued by various forms of the cruel disease.James' wife, and Dylan's mother, Vicky Clarke, 42, is also living with secondary cancer after previously being diagnosed with breast cancer.
The dad told Glasgow Live: ""Our family has been really affected by cancer in recent years."My mum was always keen to raise money for Maggie's which we did do, but with the Great Scottish Run, we have chosen Cancer Research.
