A Glasgow couple have been left amazed at the true value of a painting they picked up from a local charity shop for just £5 after they appeared on BBC's Antiques Roadshow.
The pair appeared as guests on Sunday's episode, which was filmed in the south side of Glasgow at Pollok Country Park. There they presented the painting they had found in Shawlands two decades ago.
The owner explained: "I found it in a charity shop, in a place called Shawlands, not far from here, about 20 years ago." and said how the painting had "been worth" the £5 price tag after being drawn to its depiction of West Scotland reports the Daily Star.
His wife added: "We probably paid more for the taxi to take it home [from the charity shop] because it was raining that day."Antique art expert Frances Christie said looking thrilled at the couple's charity steal, revealing the artist's work rarely comes up in auction. It is a work of local Scottish artist Dorothy Steel, born in 1927 and who passed away in 2002.Frances added: "In my opinion this is probably one of the best steal's I've ever seen.
