Scots churro bar scoops best in the UK title at 'Ice Cream Oscars'

Glasgow is officially home to the best ice cream in the UK. Loop and Scoop was crowned cream of the crop at the "Ice Cream Oscars", when the Glasgow gelato creators took the top title at the National Ice Cream Championships 2022.

The ice cream and churro bar, which currently has two locations in the city and a third on the way, melted away the competition to scoop a Gold Medal and Trophy at the annual awards, according to Glasgow Live.

Following a cool taste-off against hundreds of products across 13 categories, founder Calvin Kayes' dairy free sea salted chocolate gelato was judged as a winner in the Alternative category.

Now in its 77th year and organised by the Ice Cream Alliance (ICA), the championships saw judges blind-taste everything from dairy-free, low-fat, high-protein to no-sugar ice cream in search of the UK's best alternative ice cream.
