A new Scots CD forged in Galloway “for weans and bairns” will be launched at Moat Brae in Dumfries tonight.And the album only came about thanks to a tie-up between the two ‘Ks’ – Kirkpatrick Durham and Kirkbean.Poet Stuart A Paterson published A Squatter o Bairnrhymes to acclaim earlier this year.And when Nicola Black grabbed a copy she hit on the idea of putting the Kirkbean writer’s cannily crafted Scots verses to music.Nicola, from Kirkpatrick Durham, told the News: “I’ve known Stuart for a while.“It was in lockdown when I got his new book A Squatter o Bairnrhymes.“When I’m sitting around my head sometimes just sings things.“I was looking at the Scots verses and before I knew it I had written four tunes for them.
