Scots airport clarifies liquid rule ahead of new scanners being installed

Prestwick Airport bosses have moved to clarify the rules on the 100ml liquid rule at security.It comes as major airports prepare for the rollout of new scanners that will spell the end for the 100ml liquid rule.UK airports are being given more time to install the new high-tech scanners that will enable passengers to take up to two litres of liquid as part of hand luggage allowance.The new tech was supposed to be in place for this summer but could be delayed by up to a year.Prestwick Airport said in a statement today that "all passengers should continue to follow the 100ml rule and remove large electricals from their bags."Edinburgh Airport is one of the flight hubs set to install new scanners but also said the 100ml rule will remain in place for the time being.Taking to social media, the airport said: "This is a welcome announcement that will help provide clarity for passengers travelling through Edinburgh Airport this summer."Although work is currently ongoing to install the new scanners and a number will be in place in the coming weeks and months, passengers should continue to follow the 100ml rules and remove large electricals from their bags until we announce otherwise.
