A Scots actor has said the Edinburgh Festival is "dying" due to steep hotel prices in the city. Brian Maitland insists performers will not want to come back, adding that punters have been also been put off by the costs.
The Scot, who now lives in London, took to TikTok to rant after finding hotel prices costing as much as £526 for two nights in the middle of August and quickly discovered many hotel prices were similar - costing hundreds for just a couple of nights.
Hundred of thousands of tourists are expected to flock to the city as The Edinburgh International Festival, Festival Fringe and Book Festival all kick off in August.
It is the first year the full festival has taken place since the pandemic after a scaled back version last year, reports Edinburgh Live.
