ScotRail has announced services will remain reduced on Saturday - despite strike action being called off at the 11th hour. The RMT union postponed industrial action on November 5, 7, 9, this afternoon, with talks over pay and conditions scheduled with Network Rail.

But ScotRail has confirmed its reduced timetable will go ahead as planned, due to the 'short period of time' the rail operator was given to make arrangements after the strike was called off.A ScotRail statement, posted on Twitter, said: "Planned industrial action by Network Rail members of the RMT trade union on Saturday 5, Monday 7 and Wednesday 9 November has been suspended."Due to the short period of time available, the limited timetable that was due to operate during the planned strike action will remain in place for tomorrow."We'll update you on the resumption of full service ASAP."The RMT say the current dispute remains "very much live," and the union is continuing its re-ballot of members to secure a fresh mandate for action with the result due on November 15.RMT general secretary Mick Lynch says the strike action has made the rail employers 'see sense.'He said: “The threat of strike action and our strongly supported industrial campaign has made the rail employers see sense.“We have always wanted to secure a negotiated settlement and that is what we will continue to push for in this next phase of intensive talks.“Our priority is our members, and we are working towards securing a deal on job security, a decent pay rise and good working conditions.“Our re-ballot remains live and if we have to take strike action during the next 6 months to secure a deal, we will.” Don't miss the latest news from around Scotland and beyond - Sign up to our daily newsletter
