ScotRail Glasgow to Ayrshire train services cancelled after 'major disruption' on railway line

Train services between Ayrshire and Glasgow have been axed this evening following a 'major disruption' on the railway line.ScotRail officials have confirmed that due to a branch being caught on overhead lines between Kilwinning and Barassie, trains between Glasgow Central and Ardrossan Harbour/Ayr/Largs have been cancelled.Officials anticipate the issue should be resolved by 5pm.In the meantime, passengers can use their tickets on various bus services.Ticket acceptance is in place on Stagecoach West services:* 4: Glasgow Kilmarnock Prestwick Ayr.* 14 : Irvine - Troon - Ayr. * 585: Irvine Prestwick - Ayr.* 11 : Kilwinning - Irvine - Ardrossan.* X34: Glasgow - Glengarnock - Dalry - Irvine - Saltcoats* X36: Glasgow - Kilwinning - Stevenson.* X77: Glasgow - Kilmarnock - Prestwick - Ayr.
