Scots dreaming of a white Christmas might just get their wish, as snow flurries are expected to hit on the big day, bringing a drop in temperatures.

Early projections indicate that much of Scotland could see wintry conditions, with the latest WX Charts forecasting a Christmas Eve whiteout.

The Met Office's long-range forecast, which spans from December 24 until January 7, suggests that some areas can anticipate snow and sleet.

It states: "Mainly unsettled conditions appear likely for most, with spells of wind and rain followed by showers affecting most areas but especially the north and northwest of the UK.""Some sleet and snow is also likely at times, especially on high ground in the north.
