Stunning Highland pics taken 24 hours apart show January’s incredible weather swing from bitter cold snap to unseasonable warmth.Glasgow businessman Donald MacLeod took the snaps of the same view from Shieldaig looking over Kinlochewe over the weekend.

One picture shows the vast, beautiful vista carpeted with white snow.But just 24 hours later, a second image reveals virtually all the snow had melted.

The remarkable turnaround came as, in some parts of the Highlands, temperatures swung by more than 30C from a freezing low point of -19C to 13C in the space of a few days.MacLeod, who owns Glasgow’s famous nightclub The Garage, likes to visit the area with his wife every January.

He told the Record: “This year was exceptional because of the weather - it was a total winter wonderland, -14C and snow coming in and lying thick in the trees.“The road towards Torridon took us up past the viewpoint at Kinlochewe - it looked absolutely brilliant.
