People in certain Scots areas have been warned that a period of prolonged and heavy rainfall could now last even longer than anticipated, with the risk of flooding still rife. After issuing a string of weather warnings for Scotland and the rest of the UK earlier this week, the final remaining alert was due to come to an end on Thursday May 23 at 6pm after being put in place at midday on Wednesday.
However, this has now been extended to last until the early hours of Friday morning, and although the warning area has been cut down, people are still being urged to stay aware of the risks.
With the yellow rain alert now due to come to an end at 3am on Friday May 24, it means it'll have been in place for 39 hours.
The ongoing and 'persistent' rain is expected to cause further flooding and transport delays, although the impacts are expected to be less severe than before.
