An eight-year-old boy was left with a deep gash to his head after a 4ft tall white swan began attacking him. Jacob Gregory was having a picnic with his mum Sophie Hall, 27, and her partner Alex Conduit, 35, his daughter Bella, six, and their daughter Lily, 18 months, when the swan flew at him as he enjoyed a swim.
The youngster was hauled from the water with blood streaming from his head after the attack by the huge bird which viciously pecked him.
He was only saved when his brave mum dived fully-clothed into a river to rescue him. The Year 3 pupil at Bitham Brook Primary School in Westbury, Wilts, was taken to Frome Community Hospital with a deep wound in his head and is now recovering at home.
