A teen has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer outside a chip shop. The officer had attended the scene on Roughwood Drive in Kirk at around 6.55pm yesterday, December 15, after reports of feral youths hurling bottles and stones at the shop and delivery drivers, and attempting to smash the shop's windows, reports the ECHOA Merseyside police spokesman said: "Attempts were made to detain a male at the scene who became aggressive towards officers.
During the incident an officer was pulled to the floor banging his head."Footage from the scene appeared to show the cop lying on his back in the middle of the road being checked by a colleague, while other officers handcuffed a male who was lying face-down nearby.
One woman could be heard saying "he's been knocked out", while another said "the bizzie's out cold".The officer was rushed to hospital but has since been released.A 13-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of common assault of an emergency worker and obstructing/resisting a constable in execution of duty, and is currently in custody.Knowsley neighbourhood Chief Inspector Chris Ruane said: “This was a disgraceful incident in which a police officer was injured while simply attempting to do his job.
It is only by sheer luck that his injuries were not more serious.“Antisocial behaviour causes misery in our communities and can often lead to people being seriously injured or left fearful for their families, homes and businesses.
