School children in West Lothian benefit from housebuilder's community initiative fund

School children in Bathgate and Livingston were amongst those who will benefit from a housebuilder’s generous community initiative.Persimmon East Scotland donated £13,000 to local charities and community groups across the Lothians during the past year as part of its Community Champions initiative.In 2024, the homebuilder supported four incredible organisations working to enhance community wellbeing, improve education, and provide vital resources.The School Bank West Lothian, situated in Meikle Road, Livingston received £5,000 to provide school uniform packs for 35-40 children.

These packs address barriers to education, improve attendance, and help reduce bullying for some of the most vulnerable young people in the region.Simpson Primary Parent Council in Leyland Road, Bathgate received £3,000 to create additional needs and nurture spaces.

Funds will go toward sensory equipment, soft furnishings, and lighting to benefit the wellbeing of pupils.And The Boghall Drop-in Centre, situated in the town’s Marina Road, was also awarded £3,000 for its Christmas programme, which supported struggling families with food, festive activities, and gifts, offering a lifeline during the cost-of-living crisis.Since its launch in 2015, the Community Champions scheme has contributed over £360,000 to grassroots organisations across Scotland.This quarterly funding will continue during 2025, with up to £6,000 available to charities and groups making a difference.Persimmon East Scotland is now inviting charities and community groups across the Lothians to apply for funding via its website.Neil Parry, Managing Director of Persimmon East Scotland, said: “We’re proud to have supported these incredible organisations, each making a real difference to
