Sarah Silverman was seen cheering on healthcare and other essential workers from a New York City balcony yesterday on Saturday. Yes, countries around the world have their own version of the UK’s ‘Clap for Carers’ movement, which started in Italy and Spain in early March.

The comic was joined by a female friend for the tribute to those on the frontlines in the state which has more coronavirus cases than any country around the world.

The US also has the world’s highest death toll from the virus, with 19,651 dead. At the time of writing, here were 1,790,564 cases of corona worldwide.
