In 2019, Sarah’s son Stanley, whom she shares with husband Jonathan Smith, fell ill leading to her having to take a brief hiatus from Hollyoaks at the time.
Sarah, 40, never disclosed information on Stanley's illness, but described it as “the most emotionally draining and stressful week of my life”.
In the wake of this, the doting mum didn’t get time to properly process what had happened until the world came to a standstill in early 2020 as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
