Can we get a round of applause for Saoirse Monica Jackson, please? Not only has the Derry Girls actress has just won an award at the prestigious Royal Television Society awards but she beat out some of the most lauded comedy stars around to do so.
Saoirse who plays angsty Erin Quinn on the outrageously funny show won the award for Best Comedy Performance – Female at the awards, and in doing so beat out stiff competition from Fleabag star Phoebe Waller-Bridge no less along with Diane Morgan, known for the Cunk series.
Saoirse was clearly blown away by her much deserved win and took to social media to say as much. In what could be a line taken straight from her character’s mouth she proclaimed: ‘Sweet Jesus, I’m lost for words.’ Sweet
