Former Made in Chelsea Sam Thompson has shared the story behind his awkward run-in with Love Island host, Maya Jama. In an episode of the podcast Staying Relevant, his co-host and close pal Pete Wicks describes how the two of them were out at a bar drinking tequila, and as Maya walked past, Sam spotted her and shouted her name… a number of times.
Pete explained: “He then waded through a couple of people and went “Maya!” in her face and she went “Oh Sam. Alright?” and then walked off. That was literally it and he went “That was awkward wasn’t it.”” Sam then went on to explain how he and Maya have previously worked together, when he hosted the Love Island: Morning After podcast.
Pete then joked: “She’s not being paid to talk to you outside of that so she ain’t going to do it.” Sam then added that the worst part about the whole interaction was that he “pointed at her” and the number of seconds it took for Maya to recognise who it was shouting at her.
Pete concluded the story by warning Sam that Maya may end up getting a restraining order against him as a result of his antics.
