Sam Thompson has finally spilled the beans on why he was spotted looking upset at the TRIC Awards last month. The 31 year old I'm A Celebrity champ, who was recently seen in what appeared to be a heated exchange with his girlfriend Zara McDermott, has opened up about the emotional moment during the latest instalment of his podcast with BFF and co-host Pete Wicks.

In the recent episode of Staying Relevant, Sam confessed that he had received "really bad news" on the day of the TRIC Awards which left him feeling "really sad".

Despite his emotions, he chose to attend the event, putting on a brave face. Addressing the ongoing fan concern over his wellbeing, Sam clarified: "Firstly, there's no way of getting around it, I had actually received some bad news, so I actually was really sad, I'm not going to lie about it, but I was." He also set the record straight about the crying rumours: "I wasn't crying though, I wasn't actually crying.

I just want to let everyone know that now," he insisted. "There was a paparazzi shot which said 'Sam Thompson crying after THAT argument with girlfriend Zara', after the Soccer Aid thing.They linked both of them together." Sam went on to describe how his best mate Pete supported him through the tough time: "There's a few things here, I was really sad, and Pete being my best mate, he took me outside and the beauty of it was that Pete said we can't go out the front because there were a lot of paps there.
