Scots actor Sam Heughan has opened up about his personal life in a new book. The Outlander star was inspired to write Waypoints while taking part in the West Highland Way, a 96-mile hike from Milngavie to Fort William.
Appearing in Friday's episode of BBC's The One Show, he took fans back on the trail with him in a short video and shared some key moments that made him reflect on his life and journey so far.
Sam took part in the West Highland Way last year, during a break in filming for Outlander. And if the 96-mile journey didn't sound daunting enough, he also decided he would take on Ben Nevis on the way - Scotland's tallest mountain.
In the video, which showed off the beautiful Scottish landscape and rolling hills, he explained: " The walk gave me time to reflect on my own personal journey and I wrote a book about the experience." He didn't get his challenge off to the best start.
