Reece Winnard, who will be 24 on April 15, is living with a rare muscle-wasting disease. At the age of four, he was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, which his mum says ‘takes everything away from him’.

It means that over time, mutations in the genes in his muscles weaken their ability to function. By ten years old, he was forced to use a wheelchair to get around, and as he’s got older, he’s lost the ability to use his arms or hands.
