Amanda Louise Holden (born 16 February 1971) is an English media personality, actress, television presenter, singer, and author. She has judged on the television talent show competition Britain's Got Talent since the show began its run in 2007 on ITV. As an actress, Holden played the role of Mel in Kiss Me Kate (1998–2000), Geraldine Titley in The Grimleys (1999-2001), Sarah Trevanion in Wild at Heart (2006–2008), Lizzie, the Ring Mistress, in Big Top (2009), and the title role in Thoroughly Modern Millie, for which she was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award.

A sacked nurse has won a long-running battle to clear her name after allegations she slapped a vulnerable patient left her 50-year career in tatters.Former critical care nurse Liz Murphy took up a manager job at a North Lanarkshire care home after retiring but was horrified to be dismissed just over a year later over claims she had hit a resident across the face.The 71-year-old great grandmother, from Newmains, spent all her savings battling the decision to sack her after referring herself to the nursing watchdog, claiming she was “stitched up” by disgruntled staff.Now, after four years of turmoil, the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) has thrown out the assault allegations over “inconsistent evidence”.Liz told the Record: “When I was accused of hitting the patient I was in absolute shock.
