RTÉ star Ryan Tubridy has opened up about feeling helpless and clueless about what to do after he witnessed a woman being abused by her partner on the street.
The Irish broadcaster opened up about the unnerving incident on his RTÉ Radio One show which he witnessed while out for a walk with his nephew.
This comes as Women’s Aid’s annual report, released in June, showed that the pandemic has had an ‘unprecedented and exhausting’ impact on the victims of domestic abuse in Ireland, with a 43 per cent increase in contacts made to its services as compared with 2019.
Speaking about the harrowing encounter on his radio show, he explained: ‘We were walking along and the next thing we heard in the distance was a roar, a roar out of a man’s mouth.
