Ryan Christie came back to haunt former mentor Brendan Rodgers as the Scotland star bagged the winner to plunge his old Celtic boss deeper into trouble at Leicester City.
Rodgers eased the pressure on himself with a first Premier League victory of the season on Monday night against Midlands rivals Nottingham Forest and looked set to follow that up when Patson Daka gave them an early lead at Bournemouth.
However, interim Cherries boss Gary O’Neil’s men completely turned things around in the second half as they netted twice in four second half minutes with Philip Billing netting before Christie scored the winner from Dominic Solanke’s knockdown at the Vitality Stadium.
It’s a huge blow to Rodgers whose team face Crystal Palace next week with pressure building on the Northern Irishman and he would be little consolation that it was a player who he played such a he part in his career that did the damage.
