Rutherglen Glencairn boss Joe Pryce has his sights firmly set on promotion from the West of Scotland First Division and says they’re ready for the challenge.Their campaign starts on Saturday at newly-promoted Cumbernauld United, then they host Kilbirnie Ladeside on Wednesday and travel to Kilwinning Rangers next weekend.Having narrowly missed out on promotion last term, Pryce wants to make sure this time around. He said: “It’s an interesting start.

Cumbernauld are coming up as a newly-promoted side with momentum behind them.“They’re used to winning, so that’s going to be a really tough game, and then we’re up against two of the top sides in our division in Kilbirnie and Kilwinning, who are big clubs and who will feel that they should be in the Premier League, so they’ll want to get off to a fast start.

We take it one game at a time, and all our concentration and focus this week is on the Cumbernauld game, and hopefully get a positive result out of that.“We finished fourth last season, missed promotion by one spot, and this league is another tough one, but we feel we’re ready for it, we’re ready for the challenge and we’ll give it our best shot.”Pryce has been preparing his side with friendlies against increasingly-stronger opposition, ending in a 1-0 defeat against St Cadoc’s on Saturday. But he said: “The real stuff starts on Saturday but we’re well prepared and ready.“We’ve been through another couple of tough games.

We played against St Cadoc’s, and the reason we take these games on is because if you have any shortcomings, these teams will highlight it, and we can work on it.
