Ruth Langsford has been defended by her fans after being subject to 'awful' messages after giving a glimpse of her latest trip to the salon.

The Loose Women star is often seen sporting her blonde locks in a short, coiffed style and she wanted to show her followers exactly how it was done.

Posting a video to Instagram, Ruth could be seen sitting in the hairdresser's chair as she filmed the process of getting her extensions replaced.

But at the start of the clip, the presenter could be seen sporting the long tresses before they were cut and teased a possible change in the message alongside her video. "Got my extensions replaced today by the lovely @_graceahmad @leobancroft salon," Ruth typed. "Always tempted to keep it long but only really have them for volume not length….maybe one day I’ll surprise you with long, golden locks!!"
