Meghan Markle’s stance on royal titles for her children, Archie and Lilibet, has reportedly shifted after conversations with Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, according to royal expert Neil Sean.
Initially, the Duchess of Sussex had downplayed the significance of titles, stating in her 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey that she didn’t have any "attachment" to the "grandeur" of royal life.
At that time, her children were styled as Archie and Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor, reflecting Meghan's initial views on royal status. However, in March 2023, it was announced that Archie and Lilibet would be known as Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet of Sussex.
This change was in line with the 1917 Letters Patent issued by King George V, which grants princely titles to grandchildren of the monarch.
