They’ve travelled the world with Scotland’s most famous military band – and now Lanarkshire musicians are returning to Hamilton to pay tribute to local heroes.
Sergeant Colin Blackwood, from Larkhall, and Musician Michael Chandler, from Strathaven, will perform with the Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland at their “Celebrating our Heroes” concert to support Poppyscotland.Both former Strathaven Academy pupils, Colin, a trombonist, and Michael, a clarinettist, developed their love of music playing with the school’s band, before going on to join the Army.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

All proceeds will go to help Poppyscotland deliver its life-changing support for members of the Armed Forces community across Scotland.Sgt Blackwood, who has been an Army musician for 33 years, said: “This is the first time the Band has played in Hamilton, and I’m really looking forward to returning to my hometown.
