Elizabeth II (Elizabeth Alexandra Mary; born 21 April 1926) is Queen of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms. Elizabeth was born in London, the first child of the Duke and Duchess of York, later King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, and she was educated privately at home. Her father ascended the throne on the abdication of his brother King Edward VIII in 1936, from which time she was the heir presumptive. She began to undertake public duties during the Second World War, serving in the Auxiliary Territorial Service. In 1947, she married Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, a former prince of Greece and Denmark, with whom she has four children: Charles, Prince of Wales; Anne, Princess Royal; Prince Andrew, Duke of York; and Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex.

Royal Family 'sad' as romance comes to an end amid 'tricky' new relationship

There was excitement among royal fans recently when Princess Anne's son, Peter Phillips, made his public debut with his new girlfriend, Harriet Sperling, who works as a paediatric nurse.

Peter, who recently split from long-term girlfriend Lindsay Wallace, was joined by Harriet and his two daughters, Savannah and Isla Phillips, at the Badminton Horse Trials in Gloucestershire and was pictured speaking with Queen Camilla.

As the couple went about their day, one onlooker told the Sun: “They looked completely smitten and he was grinning from ear to ear.

He looked like the cat that got the cream and acted without a care in the world.” On welcoming Harriet as the newest addition to the Phillips family and whether there would have been any difficulties for Savannah and Isla, former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond reflected on the situation.
