Shotts assistant Martin Devlin says his side “clicked” as they put on a five-star show to dump Rossvale 5-1 in the West of Scotland League First Division.Devlin revealed his side were down to the bare bones ahead of the clash against a side that dropped down from last season’s Premier League, but they grabbed their first win in some style.Blane McDade got Shotts off the mark and after Rossvale levelled, they fired in goals from Aaron Bryson, Kyle Richford, Taylor Evans and PJ O’Donnell.Devlin hopes to get some of their top stars back for the trip to Cumbernauld United on Saturday, but says those who came in didn’t do themselves any harm.He said: “I think it’s always a scalp when it’s a team that comes down from the top league.

We knew they were a good side, and they were, but maybe on Saturday it clicked for us, which was great.“A lot of guys who have come in really performed, like Blane McDade, who came in from Cambuslang’s 20s, PJ O’Donnell, was another that we brought in, and it was good.“It was a very pleasing day at the office.“There was a wee bit of a relief when we got that first goal and then thankfully we were able to kick on from there.“It was five different goal-scorers, which was pleasing, but we spent a lot of time during the week at training, working on that, focusing on crossing and finishing, so it was nice to see it come to fruition.”Devlin says the clash at Guy’s Meadow is likely to be tough and added: “It’s another hard game.

It’s one of the most competitive leagues that I’ve seen, and every week it seems to be a 50-50 game.“We were down to the bare bones a wee bit on Saturday, so hopefully we can get bodies back.”Follow Lanarkshire Live Sport onTwitter via@LanLiveSport, like us onFacebookor find us on
