Aberdeen in the pre-contract fight for Ross County striker Ross Stewart. United boss Micky Mellon is a big fan of the striker and has been on his wanted list since the start of the season.
United tried to strike a deal with County in the last window but were unable to meet County’s asking price.The Tannadice club, however, would be keen to land him on a pre-contract for next season.Marc McNulty is due to return to Reading in the summer and that would leave Mellon on the lookout for another striker.United will try to speak to the player and his agent over the coming weeks to see if they can tempt him to Tannadice.
The problem is that Aberdeen are likely to have more financial muscle and the other problem is that Ross County are likely to try.
