Roon the Toon 2022: Runners get back to first summer race since 2019

Ian Gebbie admits it was wonderful to see runners getting back to a summer race – although you wouldn’t have known it from the weather.

Sunday saw the first June Roon the Toon since 2019 – and a record 1,700 runners signed up for the popular Kilmarnock event. The Ayrshire road run was endorsed by Scottish Athletics as they made it the official Scottish 10K this year.

Co-organiser Ian told the Kilmarnock Standard: “We were delighted with how it went. The Scottish Athletics officials said it was a superb atmosphere and that is good because that’s what we are about.
