Snooker star Ronnie O'Sullivan missed out on the chance to share the screen with his actress fiancee Laila Rouass after been deemed "too hairy" to play a patient in Holby City.

The professional snooker player is engaged to the Footballers' Wives star, who plays Sahira Shah in the BBC medical drama. Laila, 49, left the show back in 2012, but her character is making a big return this week.

She filmed her comeback scenes under strict coronavirus distancing measures, which means stars can only touch each other if they are in a bubble.

Bosses wanted her doctor character to get close to a patient in the show, so Laila suggested bringing in her real life partner Ronnie, 45, to use as a body double.
