Ron Gordon wants football alcohol ban axed as Hibs chief offers SPFL review insight

SPFL review are keen on bringing alcohol back to Scottish football stands. The Easter Road owner has joined forces with chiefs from Aberdeen, Dundee, Dundee United and Hearts to launch a major review of the governing bodies finances and structures.

The Premiership quintet have set Deloitte the ambitious target of coming up with a plan to more than double the SPFL’s current revenue streams from £27millio to £50million a year.Gordon has stated that in a bid to improve the match day experience for supporters a move towards alcohol sales is being touted.

The ban was initially imposed following a riot at the 1980 Scottish Cup final between Rangers and Celtic after the Parkhead side clinched the trophy.
