Sir Rod Stewart has revealed his brother died earlier this week, just two days before Queen Elizabeth II. The 77 year old singer said that he has had a “devastating 48 hours” in the wake of both his family tragedy and the death of the monarch.
Sir Rod shared his grief in a statement posted to Instagram and Twitter, as he wrote: “It has been a devastating 48 hours. We lost my brother Don on Tuesday at 94 and today we have all lost Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at 96. “The Queen has been an unwavering presence throughout my life and a great unifier.
A shining star that will never fade in our hearts and souls. “What a privilege it was to perform for her. My deepest sympathies to the Royal Family.
God save the King.” Sir Rod performed just a few months ago at the Queen’s platinum jubilee celebrations, with his performance being watched by many senior members of the royal family, including Prince William, Kate Middleton and two of their children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
