Kennedy explained he’d been “taking a group of people falconing” in Goshen in the Hudson Valley when a woman in the van in front of him hit and killed a young bear. “So I pulled over and I picked up the bear and put him in the back of my van because I was going to skin the bear, and it was very good condition,” he recalled. “I was going to put the meat in my refrigerator,” he added.

He then went hawking with the bear in his car, before heading back to the city for a dinner. Dinner apparently went late, so he didn’t have time to stop at his home in Westchester County before heading to the airport.
