But in truth, he had hired the castle from actress Jane Seymour - and he had not told her he intended to fake living there so he could appear wealthier.
Robbie was just 23 when he welcomed the camera into what appeared to be his home in St Catherine's Court, Bath. He even hired butlers during the filming process to wait on him hand and foot in front of MTV cameras.
